Tomorrowland (Trailer Review)

Bound by a shared destiny, a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory.

The first teaser trailer for Tomorrowland dropped this week at the New York Comic-Con and almost immediately appeared online. As with many of my preferred previews it focuses on a specific moment or scene from the film. Thus, giving us a better feel of the tone and atmosphere that will accompany Brad Bird's second live-action film after the ridiculously entertaining Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.

Casey (Britt Robertson) is being released from some sort of detention facility and is being given back her personal effects, among which is a pin (bearing the titular sphere's logo) that doesn't belong to her. Or does it? Upon touching it Casey gain access to a parallel world and sees a futuristic cityscape in the distance. All this is set to a voice-over that can only belong to George Clooney. He's not recruiting for another casino heist, he's telling us of "a secret place where nothing is impossible." It's an appetite-whetting teaser and is clearly the calm before the film's marketing storm. But it's not over before a slit second of action in the land of tomorrow where a man with a jet-pack flies over Casey.

Tomorrowland comes to theaters on May 22nd, 2015. Are you looking forward to the sci-fi film that clearly has something to do with Disney's own corner of the amusement park. What did you think of this teaser trailer? The comments below are yours today.
